QLogic InfiniPath Host Channel Adapters now supported by HP-MPI
QLogic, the only end-to-end provider of host adapters to switched fabrics for storage and high performance computing networks, today announced the high-performance Hewlett-Packard Message Passing Interface Library (HP-MPI) now supports QLogic InfiniPath Host Channel Adapters (HCAs). MPI is the Message Passing Interface that programmers use to make a program run on thousands of processors, and share data and messages among them. With the release of HP-MPI v2.2.5, their software applications can now run on Linux-based clusters built with the industry’s highest performing interconnect—InfiniPath HCAs from QLogic.
"With over 20 Independent Software Vendors now distributing high-performance HP-MPI on Linux clusters, application support for InfiniPath is rapidly enabled," says Lee Fisher, HP-MPI Solution Alliances evangelist, Hewlett-Packard. "Customers have a new choice for fast and robust job execution on their InfiniPath InfiniBand fabric, and ISVs avoid the expense of testing and supporting yet one more unique platform variation of their applications for Linux clusters."
"As an HPC application provider that has committed to working with HP-MPI, we are encouraged that our customers can now benefit from the increased performance provided by running RADIOSS on clusters using InfiniPath HCAs," said Eric Lequiniou, solver technology manager at Altair Engineering.
HP MPI: Streamlining Communications for Scalable Execution
HP-MPI enables multi-protocol execution of MPI-based high-performance computing applications on clusters. Compute-intensive applications such as fluid dynamics, oil reservoir simulation, impact analysis, weather modeling, and others rely on HP-MPI to streamline communication for scalable execution. The new release of HP-MPI, v2.2.5, is available for trial download on November 15 at its Web site.
InfiniPath HCAs: The Performance Leaders for Cluster Interconnect
Available for servers with Hyper Transport and PCI-Express slots, InfiniPath HCAs are the performance leaders for cluster interconnect. With HP-MPI support, QLogic adapters can now interoperate smoothly with applications from more than 20 HPC ISVs who currently test with and support the HP-MPI standard.
