Vello, cPacket Speak on Latency Measurement & Minimization
Vello Systems and cPacket Networks will speak at the Low Latency Summit in London next week on techniques by which financial institutions can upgrade their metropolitan and local area networks to minimize latency, using new techniques for fine-grained measurement and monitoring to ensure latency is kept as low as possible.
Minimizing latency is critical to a growing number of applications, including applications associated with securities trading and the management and backup of large volumes of data in enterprise networks.
In a panel discussion Tuesday afternoon at the Low Latency Summit, Vello VP of Marketing Harry Petty will discuss how Vello's CX family of networking systems enables financial firms to reduce latency significantly through innovative use of switching and transport technologies. Vello systems have demonstrated latency reductions of up to 50% over competitor systems in customer networks. At the same panel, cPacket founder and CEO Rony Kay will discuss how cPacket technologies enable precise measurement of end-to-end network latency.
"For high-frequency trading firms and others in the financial community, latency is a critical competitive differentiator for market content delivery, while for their enterprise applications like backup and disaster recovery, minimal latency and deterministic jitter are also critical considerations," said Mr. Petty. "At the Low Latency Summit, we'll look at innovative solutions for globally optimizing and addressing these challenges."
Vello is introducing software-defined networking (SDN) capabilities for hybrid switched and circuit networks. SDN is a new networking paradigm, expected by a growing number of networking experts to replace today's networking architecture with a simpler, more flexible networking environment that will enable fine-grained network control to scale in keeping with the massive increase in network complexity affecting enterprise network, server and storage administrators worldwide. The Vello CX family provides a pay-as-you-grow solution for customers seeking a high-performance future-proof path for their networks. Client interfaces are software-programmable via the VellOS operating system, ensuring maximum usability and investment protection.
