Bright Computing Sponsors Lustre User Group Conference; Presents Management Solution
Bright Computing announced that the company is sponsoring this year’s Luster User Group 2012 Conference (LUG 2012). Scheduled in Austin, Texas from April 23-25, this annual High Performance Computing (HPC) event is a collaborative effort amongst several user communities: The Lustre Community Groups, Open Scalable File Systems (OpenSFS), and the European Open File Systems (EOFS) groups. Additional sponsors include Bull, Cray, DDN, Dell, EMC, Intel, NetApp, Raid, SGI, Terascala, Whamcloud and Xyratex.
Bright Computing will present an overview of how the Lustre file system is integrated within Bright Cluster Manager, its comprehensive cluster management and cloud bursting solution. Bright Cluster Manager is also part of the solution presented by other speakers, both technology providers and end-users.
Bright’s new Lustre capabilities received positive reviews from analysts at The 451 Group. In a report released in February, the authors stated that “Adding the monitoring and management of Lustre file systems to the Bright Cluster Manager not only adds a new arrow to Bright's quiver of capabilities, but covers an area of high-performance computing that its competitors do not, making the case for using Bright more compelling.” Source: The 451 Group – Report, “Bright adds Lustre to the Cloud,” by John Barr and William Fellows, 6 February 2012.
"LUG is the preeminent venue for users of the Lustre parallel file system, drawing users from around the world and across a variety of disciplines," said Galen Shipman, Oak Ridge National Laboratory's Technology Integration Group Leader and a member of the LUG2012 organizing committee.
According to The 451 Group in the 6 February report, “About two-thirds of the fastest computers on the planet use Lustre.”
The 3-day conference will feature more than 30 presentations by users and developers in addition to round table discussions. Attendees are also invited to attend the OpenSFS Technical Working Group and Community Development Working Group meetings on Wednesday, April 25 from 1-5 p.m.
