Strike Technologies Chooses Mellanox 40GbE for Large US-based Exchange Co-Location Deployment
Mellanox SX1036 40GbE switch system delivers the highest throughput and lowest latency required for trading and risk management applications
Strike Technologies has deployed Mellanox 40 Gigabit Ethernet solutions to connect to the new 40G service offered by a large US-based exchange. The faster connectivity enables Strike to achieve the highest density and lowest port-to-port latency Ethernet performance, enabling the fastest response times for high frequency trading applications.
“Mellanox provided a 40 Gigabit Ethernet solution that delivered high density, sustainable and high throughput, low latency and low power consumption that was beyond our expectations and in ways no other vendor could,” said Ido Rosen, quantitative researcher, Strike Technologies. “We applaud the Mellanox team for their great support and helping us break new latency performance records.”
The Mellanox deployment for Strike includes the use of the Mellanox SX1036 36-port 40GigE switch system which provides the highest-performing fabric solution in a 1U form factor. The SX1036 system delivers 2.88Tbps at full wire speed on a single chip and ultra-low latency from 206 nanoseconds for Layer 2 to 333 nanosecond for Layer 3 for any packet size.
Using a Mellanox 40GbE end-to-end solution including switches, host adapters (NICs) and cables enables the lowest latency possible by using cut-through transmission instead of “store-and-forward,” which occurs when using 10GbE products on a 40GbE network.
“With the ever-increasing network traffic that has resulted from a combination of end user demand for data and improved processor performance, upgrading the data center interconnect from 10GbE to 40GbE can drive higher application performance and significant business results,” said Amir Prescher, vice president of business development at Mellanox Technologies. “Mellanox’s end-to-end 40 Gigabit Ethernet interconnect solutions increase server and storage efficiency by providing the highest throughput and lowest latency connectivity, delivering data faster to high frequency trading applications.”
Strike is a technology service provider for financial institutions whose offerings include a high-speed trading environment, pre/post trade risk management, low latency/high capacity market data transmission, trade surveillance and regulatory reporting.
As part of the deal, Mellanox interconnect hardware was provided by Colfax International, a solutions provider located in Sunnyvale, California.
