OpenFabrics Alliance announces inaugural Zurich workshop

Workshop dedicated to OpenFabrics Software (OFS/OFED) users, developers and vendors located in Europe, Middle East, India and Africa (EMEIA)

After the success of its first-ever User Day Event, The OpenFabrics Alliance (OFA) has announced the inaugural “Zurich Workshop” User Event, September 24-25, at the IBM Zurich Research Laboratory in Rüschlikon near Zurich, CH. The workshop is open to all OFS/OFED users, developers and vendors in the EMEIA regions, and will provide a unique platform for users to learn about the latest OFS releases and features and share RDMA fabric, application, and software and administration expertise.

“With the support of IBM Zurich Research, the OFA is pleased to bring this forum to OFS/OFED users in EMEIA, so that they may connect face-to-face and share knowledge with other users across the globe,” said Jim Ryan, Chairman, OFA. “RDMA technology is quickly changing the way the IT industry is building its infrastructure. This User Event will help OFS/OFED users of all levels share expertise and best practices of applications that utilize RDMA technology.”

The two-day agenda includes a variety of topics in high-performance, low-latency and efficient cost-effective supercomputing for use in public and private cloud.

Topics at the workshop include:

  • OFA development, testing, distribution and support
  • Tools and tricks for managing IB fabric
  • Subnet management traffic engineering
  • Virtualization
  • APIs for HPC applications
  • Remote access to clusters at UNL-IOL

The OFA is also currently seeking volunteers to lead sessions at the upcoming “Zurich Workshop.” The leader of each session will moderate and seek real-world examples from attendees’ collective experience. For those interested, please contact bill.boas@openfabrics.org.

The OFA recently created a user mailing list and also plans to launch a Wikipage in the coming months, as a way for users to exchange information and obtain support. OFS/OFED users are encouraged to register here to join the email list.
