Platform Simplifies Cluster Management With Version of Clusterware for Linux
TORONTO -- Simplifying cluster management, Platform Computing Inc. announced that it will offer a $120-CPU, entry-level version of Platform Clusterware(TM) for small-scale Linux compute clusters. Available online at http://www.platform.com/clusterware Platform Clusterware (Online) can be deployed in a matter of minutes on smaller clusters of up to 64 CPUs running Linux on 32-bit hardware. With Platform Clusterware (Online), small workgroups, startup businesses or departments can roll out low-cost industry standards-based clusters faster, reduce operational costs, and improve computing productivity by managing the 'cluster as server'. This new offering complements Platform's production-ready version of Clusterware, called Clusterware Pro, which supports both Linux and Unix environments with more than 64 CPUs. Announced in January 2002, Clusterware Pro integrates with packaged cluster solutions from Atipa, HP, Intervision, and Microway for customized 'cluster as server' management solutions and provides additional features such as support for large clusters, commercial application integrations, master-failover and support for 64-bit Intel Itanium systems, and Sun Solaris, HP-UX and other UNIX platforms.

Incorporating workload management, system monitoring and administration through an easy to use browser-based interface, Clusterware supports multiple scheduling policy centers and proven job reliability inherited from Platform LSF. Clusterware provides a standards-based architecture and is easy to extend with SOAP/XML interfaces for web services and open APIs, and runs on a variety of Linux distributions including Red Hat, Debian and SuSE Linux.
