Altair Engineering and AMD Collaborate
AMD has recently formed a grid technology team that will focus on working with grid application providers. The team will provide Altair with hardware and access to technical resources to enable a tighter integration with AMD chip technology and PBS Professional. The collaborative effort is clear affirmation of the value of grid technology to help provide economical high- performance computing (HPC) solutions to AMD clients.
"This is a powerhouse partnership that reaffirms the future of dual- and multi-core technology," said Michael Humphrey, vice president of Altair's GridWorks business unit. "Both AMD and Altair are leaders in their respective fields. The collaboration enhances the performance of both of our products. As grid and chip technology evolve, Altair will continue to work with companies like AMD to ensure that HPC customers receive maximum benefit from their hardware and software investment."
PBS Professional is an open-architecture workload management solution for HPC environments. The software maximizes the utilization of computing resources by intelligently scheduling and managing computational workload. By increasing the efficiency of the hardware and software resources, PBS Professional reduces total cost of ownership and provides true business value to grid computing customers.
"Altair's grid technology helps our clients maximize their throughput on market leading multi-core systems based on AMD technology," said Monica Behncke, director, Commercial Segment Marketing, AMD. "The combination of AMD hardware and PBS Professional software delivers productivity gains, adding true business value to grid computing customers."
