Gore joins Ethernet Alliance
Gore, supplier of SFP+, QSFP, CX4, Infiniband Direct Attach Copper Interconnects, joins Ethernet Alliance: W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc., a developer and manufacturer of high performance cable assemblies, has joined the Ethernet Alliance, an industry group dedicated to the promotion of Ethernet technologies. Gore will specifically play a key role in the advancement of developing Ethernet copper cable interconnect technologies. Currently this includes GORE™ SFP+ and QSFP Direct Attach Copper Cable Assemblies for the high-performance computing (HPC), Enterprise Networking and Network Storage markets and are well suited for emerging 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10 GbE), FCoE and 40 GbE applications. Gore’s SFP+ cable assemblies comply with the emerging SFF-8431 standard, while providing a very low latency, reduced jitter and a maximum signal eye opening up to 25 meters with active copper technology and 15 meters with passive copper technologies. According to Russ Hornung, Gore’s Business Development Representative for Advanced Digital Interconnects and Gore’s Ethernet primary contact, “We are very proud to join the Ethernet Alliance. We believe that Gore can offer highly reliable copper cable interconnect technologies to reduce system costs, reduce power requirements and improve signal integrity. The Ethernet Alliance was created to promote industry awareness, acceptance and advancement of technology and products based on existing and emerging IEEE 802 Ethernet standards. The organization aims to provide a cohesive, market responsive industry voice on IEEE 802 Ethernet projects. The Alliance also strengthens industry relationships and improves Interoperability and performance for End Users.
