Warm welcome for 25th PRACE Member: Belgium!
Belgium was welcomed by the PRACE Council as the RI's 25th member. Belgium will join PRACE as a member and will be represented by DGO6 of the Walloon government.
On 13th September 2012 PRACE received a formal membership application from Belgium, represented by Operational Directorate General for Economy, Employment and Research of the Walloon Public Service (DGO6 SPW).
On 9th October 2012 during its 8th meeting in Poznań, Poland hosted by the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC), the PRACE Council formally approved the request for membership of Belgium as a member from October 2012 onwards.
Up to and including the 4th PRACE Call for Proposals, Belgium has participated in 2.6% of PRACE projects as leader or collaborator. Through these projects Belgium benefitted from 1.3% of the total performance offered by PRACE hosting members. PRACE is delighted to add Belgium to its research infrastructure (RI) and is looking forward to develop and expand this fruitful co-operation.
