ADVA Optical Networking to Showcase Sync Probe Technology at ISPCS 13 Plugfest
Precise Timing Delivery and Assurance of ADVA FSP 150SP to be Tested in Multivendor Environment
ADVA Optical Networking synchronization delivery and assurance technology will be demonstrated at ISPCS 13 Plugfest. Designed specifically for the industry, ISPCS 13 Plugfest enables vendors to test the interoperability of new technologies in a live environment and resolve any compatibility issues that may arise. ADVA Optical Networking is attending the event for the first time and will be showcasing a number of devices, including its FSP 150SP sync probe.
Delivery and assurance of highly accurate timing information is increasingly important across multiple markets, including high-frequency trading applications in the finance sector, smart grid applications for energy utilities and mobile backhaul applications for LTE and LTA-Advanced networks. As the industry continues to move towards distribution of highly precise timing, events such as ISPCS 13 Plugfest are key, especially in the development of network-wide phase and time-of-day synchronization.
“Simplicity is an integral part of our technology, it governs every aspect of how we develop products, of how we develop networks,” said Christoph Glingener, CTO, ADVA Optical Networking. “This is why we relish events such as ISPCS 13 Plugfest. It's a great opportunity to show the industry that our solutions are truly plug and play. That networks can be simple. Beyond this though, it also enables us to further highlight the importance of time and phase synchronization assurance. This is a critical topic especially for mobile network operators as LTE-Advanced looms ever larger on the horizon. Backhaul operators need to get ready and deliver timing as a service – backed by hard service level agreements. And vendors need to show that their devices are interoperable, that they can work seamlessly together.”
In addition to the FSP 150SP, ADVA Optical Networking will also be demonstrating the FSP 150CC-GE206 and the FSP 150CC-GE110, each featuring the latest Syncjack technology. The unique support of both Synchronous Ethernet and IEEE 1588v2 Precision Time Protocol in the ADVA FSP 150 family is already proving critical in the development of real-world mobile backhaul networks, especially where timing assurance is vital. A trend that will continue to gather speed as mobile network operators push forward. With a clear focus on the delivery and assurance of phase synchronization, the ADVA FSP 150SP will play a key role in many of the ISPCS 13 Plugfest interoperability tests.
“Mobile network operators, financial institutions and utilities are faced with one of the biggest challenges the industry has ever seen. The actions they take over the next two years will be critical,” commented Michael Ritter, vice president, Technical Marketing and Analyst Relations, ADVA Optical Networking. “One of the most vital elements here is precise phase synchronization. The key is the right technology. That's why the industry's attention is turning towards ISCPS 13 Plugfest. There's nowhere to hide here. Your equipment is tested in front of your peers, in front of the world.”
