3PAR, Knitlogix partner to introduce utility storage to India
3PAR Creates Channel into India to Capitalize on Demand for Virtualized Storage for Utility and Cloud Computing Datacenters: 3PAR announced today that it has expanded sales into India through a new channel partnership with global technology integrator Knitlogix Pvt, Ltd., based in Hyderabad, India. With offices across India, the Middle East, and the US, Knitlogix has agreed to sell and support 3PAR Utility Storage systems to enterprise customers in India as part of a focus on delivering utility and cloud computing integration. Knitlogix was formed to capitalize on the substantial demand for enterprise-class storage alternatives that overcome the limitations of traditional high-end and monolithic storage. They offer unique expertise in introducing next-generation storage technology to the Indian market. “In India, currently there is a lack of highly virtualized and extremely scalable systems that offer compelling return on investment for enterprises with a variety of storage needs” said Ajay Jhunjhunwala, Director of Operations for Knitlogix. “This has created an ideal opportunity for Knitlogix and 3PAR to introduce 3PAR Utility Storage to the Indian market to meet the increasing demand for energy- and cost-efficient storage systems for cloud and utility computing datacenters.”
Under the terms of this partnership, Knitlogix has agreed to sell 3PAR hardware and software products, including the 3PAR InServ T-Class Storage Server with Thin Built In, 3PAR Thin Provisioning, and 3PAR Dynamic Optimization. In addition, Knitlogix offers customers full-scale services and support in collaboration with 3PAR’s corporate support organization and through its dedicated 24x7 global call center.
“In 2007, the storage market in India was worth US $250 million, with revenue distributed between just a handful of storage vendors,” said Simon Piff, Program Director of Asia Pacific storage systems research at IDC. “This environment presents a ripe opportunity for next-generation storage vendors with innovative technologies and disruptive value propositions.”
“The simplicity of management and ability to reduce our total cost of storage by up to 50% were major factors in our decision to invest in 3PAR for our India datacenter,” said Dan Grillo, Ariba Senior Director, Hosting Operations. “The capability of the 3PAR InServ to scale non-disruptively from two controllers and a few disk drives to eight controllers and well over a thousand drives within a single system was particularly compelling. Never have ease of management, energy-efficiency, return on investment, and total cost of ownership for storage been more critical to our business, and the decision to deploy 3PAR Utility Storage was made with these requirements in mind.”
"The partnership with Knitlogix has presented us with a critical opportunity to team with a company that shares our vision regarding the importance of utility and cloud computing in penetrating a key market where the need for utility storage has never been greater,” said David Scott, 3PAR President and CEO. “Knitlogix and 3PAR are poised to serve the Indian market by providing a much-needed, non disruptive alternative to traditional storage.”
