Compaq’s ProLiant Achieves TPC-C Benchmark Results of Under $5 Per Transaction
HOUSTON, TX -- Compaq Computer Corp. (NYSE: CPQ) today announced that it has published the first TPC-C benchmark with a per transaction price of less than $5. On September 25, 2001, a Compaq ProLiant(TM) ML530 server running Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 2000 Server and Microsoft SQL Server 2000, with a 1GHz Pentium III processor, delivered 9,347.24 transactions per minute (tpmC) at a cost of only $4.83 per tpmC. This unprecedented price/performance result underscores Compaq's commitment to delivering customers optimized ProLiant servers that drive down the overall cost of computing. In line with its tradition of platform excellence, Compaq was the first vendor to publish a TPC-C benchmark of under $100 per transaction, the first to achieve a per transaction price under $10, and has now demonstrated a transaction cost of less than $5.
