DataSynapse Aligns Business and IT Through Application Virtualization
Enables Better Service, Economies of Scale and Business Agility to Drive New Revenue for the Real-Time Enterprise: Global enterprises today demand “more, better, faster” – requiring critical applications to meet evolving business requirements at the same rate and at a lower cost. DataSynapse, the global provider of Application Virtualization software, has laid out its vision of creating a real-time infrastructure that helps large organizations align their IT resources with their business objectives. By addressing the business issues of both computing supply and application demand, businesses can improve service quality to corporate end-users and customers, reducing operating expenses and creating new revenue streams more quickly.
Server virtualization has rapidly gained acceptance as a solution for partitioning server resources to improve utilization. The next step is extending virtualization to the application layer of the IT stack, helping to satisfy user demand to better respond to business challenges.
“By decoupling static and siloed applications from dedicated data center infrastructure, it is possible to match resource and performance requirements in real-time,” said John Humphreys, program director, IDC Enterprise Platform Group. “By aggregating server capacity into a virtual resource pool that can be adaptively allocated based on application demand, schedule or priority, organizations are able to increase flexibility and better respond to changing business needs.”
“Today, enterprise IT struggles to meet the growing needs of the business,” said DataSynapse Chief Executive Officer and co-founder, Peter Lee. “With Application Virtualization, our clients are creating a real-time infrastructure that optimizes IT resources so that service levels remain predictable and consistent despite unpredictable demand.”
Through Application Virtualization, which intelligently matches (via policy-based automation) available server supply with application demand, organizations gain control of complex enterprise applications. This enables automation of service level management and improves application performance.
Leveraging existing resources reduces an organization’s application and infrastructure footprint by 30 percent – eliminating the need to purchase new hardware for, in some cases, as long as 18 months. It can also reduce the number of licenses required to run applications. In addition, companies can borrow compute capacity from desktop real estate or disaster recovery resources during non-emergency times rather than constantly needing to provision for peak load.
“While many enterprises are experiencing the benefits of server virtualization, these initial efforts represent only the first step in implementing a true real-time infrastructure,” said Lee. “Customers and end-users don’t interact with servers and operating systems. We believe that the source of competitive advantage resides in the technology that drives the business – the enterprise application. By ensuring that applications are powered on demand, DataSynapse is helping its clients realize greater agility and better quality of service.”
As part of its roadmap to business-aligned IT, DataSynapse will be introducing new versions of its leading products, FabricServer and GridServer, in the summer.
