Colt delivers High Speed, In-flight Encryption Service
Colt announced the extension of its managed security services portfolio with the introduction of fully integrated, highest grade in-flight encryption capabilities for its High Speed Services. This enables customers to achieve far greater levels of security when transmitting sensitive business critical data between sites without losing network performance.
Colt’s High Speed Services with protocol-agnostic in-flight encryption, meet the demanding needs of customers in sectors where regulatory compliance and protection of intellectual property are critical to the success of their business. Companies faced with compliance requirements can now benefit from a more secure service that meets the multiple regulations that institutions must comply with when transmitting large volumes of data across networks, whilst maintaining network performance, latency and bandwidth.
This new High Speed Service incorporating Ciena’s sophisticated technologies will be deployed across Colt’s regional managed metro networks in 14 major European markets. Ciena, the network specialist, combines market-leading optical transport technologies and powerful, standards-based encryption functionality to ensure security and protection without slowing down network performance. Latency generated in the process of encrypting data is reduced to single-digit microseconds. This is significantly lower than traditional encryption services, ensuring financial or transactional-orientated data is still delivered at speeds that create competitive advantage.
“Transporting intellectual property securely between sites is key for many of our enterprise customers,” comments Mike Hollands, Director Solution & Segment Marketing, Enterprise Services, Colt. “A comprehensive security strategy providing secure business applications, networking and communications allows organisations to mitigate the risk of a breach that damages customer confidence and leads to serious and expensive legal ramifications. ”
“The unique encryption capabilities offered by Ciena gives service providers such as Colt the opportunity to take early share in the growing security-orientated networking market and quickly establish competitive advantage in key verticals that require significant data transfer requirements, such as finance, media or legal,” comments Peter Newcombe, vice president of sales, Northern and Eastern Europe at Ciena. “Between Ciena’s sophisticated technology and Colt’s vast European footprint of wholly owned, high-performance networks, we can offer the highest levels of security whilst also helping to reduce the amount of protocol-specific encryption needed in a customer’s network thus lowering their operating costs.”
