Pliant Technology Names Mark Delsman Vice President of Engineering

Delsman to Lead World-Class Engineering Team to Expand Product Portfolio of Innovative Enterprise Flash Drive Offerings

Pliant Technology, developer of enterprise-class solid state storage devices designed to dramatically accelerate system and application performance while reducing IT costs, today announced the appointment of Mark Delsman as vice president of engineering.

Delsman has an extensive background in engineering management, product execution, technology strategy, and product development.  Prior to joining Pliant, Delsman was vice president of software engineering for Dot Hill Systems, where he was in charge of developing the company’s software value-add strategy and products for the entry and midrange storage solutions markets.  Previous to that, he was the senior director of software engineering for NetApp and the CTO and vice president of engineering at Adaptec.  Additional experience includes Seagate Technology, Conner Peripherals, Maxtor, and other leading storage companies.

“We are very excited about Mark joining Pliant at this time.  His engineering management experience and his insight into the current system and application issues affecting the enterprise end-user and OEM marketplace will play an important role in expanding our current Enterprise Flash Drive offerings,” said Amyl Ahola, CEO of Pliant Technology.  “Mark’s track record of success and his broad experience in storage and storage solutions gives Pliant yet another advantage over the competition.”

In his new role, Delsman will manage the software, hardware and ASIC development organizations to expand Pliant’s leadership position in the enterprise storage market for solid state based technologies.  Utilizing his extensive engineering management experience in enterprise data center and storage technologies, Delsman will be an active participant in shaping Pliant’s overall corporate technical strategy and direction as the company expands the Lightning product line, and continues to deliver innovative solutions to server and storage OEMs and value-added channel partners.

Pliant’s Lightning EFDs provide breakthrough levels of performance, reliability and efficiency, enabling data center IT infrastructure and system providers to do more for less – achieve significantly higher system performance with lower cost, less power and a smaller footprint.  The products are specifically designed for demanding, mission-critical 24x7 data center applications, including financial services, high-performance computing (HPC) and digital media applications.

Delsman holds a Masters of Business Administration from Santa Clara University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of California, Santa Barbara.
