The GS2200 Family Economically Addresses Gigabit LAN Networks Requiring High Bandwidth Switching for Data, Voice and Video

ZyXEL Communications has introduced the GS2200 series of switches. The GS2200 are economically priced, yet deliver the speed, flexibility, management services and scalability usually only found in more expensive products.

The company is simultaneously introducing a comprehensive Limited Lifetime Warranty for select products within its wide spectrum of Managed Switches and Fiber Transceivers.

The GS2200 series come in 24-port, Power over Ethernet (PoE) and 48-port versions, so SMBs can select the right switch for their needs and applications. The GS2200-24P with support for PoE provides the flexibility to deploy Voice over Internet (VoIP) Phones, surveillance cameras and Wireless Access Points (WAPs) anywhere a CAT5 data cable can reach. This makes the switch ideal for connecting to WAPs and for security and surveillance applications.

Performance

The GS2200 series Gigabit switches deliver maximum throughput and flexibility where you need it -- at the edge of the network, or in the backbone of small networks. The non-blocking design of the switches deliver simultaneous, full wire-speed, low-latency throughput to all ports. Four dual personality slots (GE RJ-45/SFP open slots) provide flexibility with either Fiber or CAT5 connectivity for long loop reach applications. All ports support N-way auto negotiation and MDI/MDI-X crossover. The static routing features ensure reliable routing between VLANs and network segmentation where and when you need it, at no additional cost.

Superior enterprise-class Quality-of-Service (QoS) features enable prioritization of VoIP, video and other critical applications with 8 IEEE 802.1p hardware priority queues.

Security

Robust security features include IEEE 802.1x port-based authentication to ensure that only authorized users can access the network, and Access Control List (ACL) to provide a higher level of security for specific traffic and applications. With VLAN support for network segmentation and security, users can set up network groups to enhance security and use the network resources more efficiently.

Management

Secure management is available through Secure Sockets Layer (SSLv2) for the Web GUI and Secure Shell (SSH) for command-line interface sessions. It also supports ZyXEL iStacking technology, allowing up to 24 switches to be managed by one IP. These switches also have an industry-standard Command Line Interface (CLI), which enables customers to cut down their operational expenses.
