LONI Hosts Technical Forum July 19, 20
The Louisiana Optical Network Initiative, or LONI, will host a two-day forum on Monday, July 19 and Tuesday, July 20, for IT staff from LONI partner sites, network users and members to discuss their needs, interests and ideas for enhanced LONI services and capabilities.
LONI Technical Forum will take place at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center's Conference Center Auditorium, 6400 Perkins Road in Baton Rouge. The forum consists of two half-day sessions, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Monday, July 19, and from 9 a.m. until noon on Tuesday, July 20.
The forum will focus on two main session topics. The Monday half-day session will focus on storage and network issues related to cloud computing, which is Internet-based sharing of computational resources, software and data on demand. AT&T representatives will moderate this discussion.
For Tuesday’s half-day session, representatives of Cisco Systems, Inc. will lead a discussion of current trends, issues and networking challenges in high-performance computing.LONI Technical Forum is hosted through LONI and the LSU Center for Computation & Technology. Louisiana Biomedical Research Network will provide multicast broadcast support.
