UK Supercomputing Integrator OCF Further Targets Mainstream Businesses
OCF plc, the UK’s premier High Performance Computing (HPC) integrator, appoints Agilent Technologies and Hewlett-Packard (HP) veteran Paul Gwyther to lead its support for customers in mainstream business environments requiring HPC solutions. As Industrial Sales Engineer, Gwyther will look to support customers in the financial services, life sciences and general industrial markets using OCF plc’s new HPC solutions based on Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server.
Gwyther will also support existing customers and meet the needs of new customers across the aerospace, defence and oil & gas sectors requiring traditional Linux based HPC solutions.
“Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server removes one of the last remaining barriers to the wider adoption of HPC in mainstream business environments,” says Julian Fielden, Managing Director, OCF plc. “The Microsoft technology is a good enabler for business customers such as banks and insurance companies requiring the power of a high performance computer but who are not comfortable using Linux solutions. We are confident that Paul will forge a strong link between customers, ISV’s and platform vendors ensuring customers receive the HPC solution that best matches their requirements.”
“With the release of Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server mainstream businesses can access enormous compute power using a platform they are more familiar with,” says Paul Gwyther, Industrial Sales Engineer, OCF plc. “The ability to now design, integrate and support HPC solutions based on either a Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server or Linux will ensure OCF plc is well positioned to meet the needs of any customer.”
With an extensive background in industrial sales engineering, Paul has previously worked for a vehicle simulation manufacturer; tech giant Hewlett-Packard (HP) and, following its split from HP, Agilient Technologies – both in the UK and the US.
Paul’s appointment comes just four months after the appointment of Marcelo Maia Garcia as High Performance Computing Systems Engineer. Joining the company in December 2006, Marcelo’s focus and expertise is HPC software optimisation, workflow and scheduling software, grid enablement and HPC benchmarking.
