Terrascale Technologies to Demonstrate Unprecedented I/O Performance
TerraGrid™ I/O platform to be showcased by Voltaire and RackSaver – Terrascale Technologies, an innovative developer of next generation input/output (I/O) software, announced that its technology will be showcased in two product demonstrations at the upcoming ClusterWorld Conference from April 6th to 8th in San Jose, California. Voltaire (booth 218) will demonstrate a highly scalable industry standard NAS solution that runs over an InfiniBand grid and leverages TerraGrid™ middleware to deliver linear scalability.
RackSaver (in the AMD booth, #313) will demonstrate a 64-bit AMD Opteron processor-compatible TerraGrid™ massively parallel I/O platform that provides fast and efficient access to a unified namespace up to 16 PetaBytes in size.
Both TerraGrid™ I/O platforms illustrate Terrascale’s ability to provide a middleware engine that drives powerful commodity hardware solutions. TerraGrid™ middleware converts “off-the-shelf” Linux PCs on standard GigE and InfiniBand networks into incredibly fast and robust clusters that are more flexible and far more cost-effective than the monolithic proprietary systems currently used for large-scale applications. TerraGrid™ middleware is the “glue” that binds best-of-breed hardware platforms together to deliver previously unimagined speed and efficiency. TerraGrid™ middlewareenabled solutions are ideally suited to benefit data-intensive business processing and R&D operations, including: bioinformatics, digital content creation, engineering design automation, quantitative analysis, meteorological modeling and seismic processing.
“The performance and elegant simplicity of Terrascale’s technology is going to shake-up the industry,” said Steve Duplessie, Founder and Senior Analyst, Enterprise Storage Group (ESG). “ESG has road tested Terrascale’s technology and we can attest that it offers excellent performance, linear scalability and impressive resilience. Voltaire and RackSaver are two innovators who already understand how TerraGrid™ middleware can add value to their solutions. I would expect to see many others following their lead,” Mr. Duplessie added.
“Our joint solution with Terrascale will be very attractive to clients seeking to provide a unified namespace in a heterogeneous environment with scalability and throughput,” said Arun Jain, Vice President of Marketing, Voltaire. “Leveraging iSCSI and InfiniBand, the solution delivers the ability to export industry standard NFS and CIFS file systems. Together, we are allowing HPC and data center clients to have a high performance scalable NAS solution with common namespace for connecting virtually any storage device to Linux-, Unix- and Windows-based systems,” Mr. Jain added.
“We are very pleased to have partners like Voltaire and RackSaver,” said Gautham Sastri, President and CEO, Terrascale Technologies. “Together, we are delivering innovation to the marketplace. For clients, the value proposition is extremely clear – faster processing speeds and linear scalability for a third to a half of the total cost of ownership. It’s that simple,” Mr. Sastri added.
