OCF has appointed Nick Dingle to its big data analytics team. As Data Scientist, Nick will engage organisations in UK academia; manufacturing and healthcare, helping them extract maximum value from their big data using analytics deployments.

Drawing on previous knowledge earned from roles with the Numerical Algorithms Group (NAG), the University of Manchester and Imperial College London, Nick will consult with customers on the big data analytics challenges they face, design analytics solutions and deliver proofs of concept projects. Nick will be working alongside Chris Brown, who leads OCF’s big data division.

“We have a long history of integrating HPC or delivering on-demand processing power for customers whilst at the same time managing, storing and archiving big data,” says Julian Fielden, managing director, OCF. “Analytics software deployments are a natural evolution for OCF. We’re expanding our team and adding deeper knowledge to ensure our customers continue to get the best advice and solutions- whether that is based on HPC hardware or analytics software.”

He adds: “Nick complements our existing team of brilliant infrastructure, management and storage engineers. I’m sure Nick will become a hugely valuable asset to our customers, helping them with the difficult project definition challenges that big data analytics creates.”

Nick brings with him a wealth of HPC experience; in his previous role as HPC Software Developer at NAG he engaged with users of HPC services such as HECToR and HPC Wales, supporting them to utilise these resources efficiently. Along with Research Associate roles at the University of Manchester and Imperial College London, Nick also previously worked as an analyst at Dstl, the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Imperial College London.
