HP Taps Sun Executive to Lead Sales in the Americas
Randy Seidl to drive market and channel expansion for Enterprise Storage, Servers and Networking business unit
HP today announced the appointment of Randy Seidl as senior vice president for the Enterprise Storage, Servers (ESS) and Networking global business unit, where he will lead the sales organization in the Americas region.
Seidl, the former senior vice president of Sun’s North America Region Global Sales and Services organization, brings to HP a successful track record of sales growth, profitability and market share gains along with a clear understanding of the challenges faced by customers.
In this role, Seidl will report to Dave Donatelli, executive vice president of Enterprise Servers and Networking at HP, as he spearheads the company’s sales operations throughout the Americas.
Seidl’s long-standing enterprise and partner relationships will help drive HP market and channel expansion with a growing portfolio of ESS and Networking solutions. These solutions enable customers to accelerate the transformation of their operations through a converged technology infrastructure that fuels business innovation.
“Customers and partners alike, especially those grappling with the uncertainty of Sun’s future, need a technology partner that can eliminate barriers to business growth quickly,” said Donatelli. “We anticipate that Randy’s knowledge of the real business issues faced by today’s CIOs, coupled with his high level of energy, passion for technology and a strong network of channel relationships, will expand HP’s success.”
While at Sun, Seidl previously served as vice president of Financial Services responsible for the growth and profitability of Sun’s enterprise offerings, including systems, storage, software and services in this critical segment. During this time, Seidl and his team achieved margin growth of 80 percent and revenue growth of 35 percent from fiscal year 2006 to fiscal year 2008. In fiscal 2008, this unit was the top-selling organization globally for Sun in terms of growth and percent of goal achievement.
“A true channel champion, Randy is well-known amongst the reseller community for building customer-centric sales models that fully embrace the channel,” said Marc Sarazin, executive vice president of Sales and Marketing at AdvizeX Technologies, a top U.S. reseller located in Burlington, Mass. “He is relentless in his pursuit of customer satisfaction and possesses a strong commitment to working with partners on presenting a compelling value proposition that helps to drive revenue growth across the board. He will be a great leader for HP’s sales organization.”
Prior to Sun, Seidl served as chief executive officer and board member at Permabit, a storage software company with solutions focused on large data stores that scale into the multipetabyte range. Seidl began his career at EMC, where he held several sales management positions, including vice president of Open Systems Sales for North America.
