Chelsio Communications Joins Power.org
Chelsio Communications has joined Power.org, the open collaborative organization that enables, develops and promotes standards for Power Architecture technology. Chelsio is a leading supplier of unified wire to the Power Architecture based solutions.
"Power.org is delighted to welcome Chelsio as an important participant in the organization who will play an integral role in our collaborative community," said Kaveh Massoudian, CTO, Power.org Strategic Alliance, IBM. "10GbE-based network convergence is happening now and Chelsio is a driving force behind this consolidation, which helps enterprises address storage infrastructure challenges including optimized expenses, improved performance, and added efficiencies."
Chelsio provides a range of 10GbE adapters, ASICs, and storage solutions which enable the convergence of server networking, storage networking, and cluster computing interconnects onto a single platform and a single fabric. At the root of the Chelsio solution set is the Terminator, a proven, protocol-rich 10GbE ASIC that has secured a broad range of OEM platform wins, including server and storage wins, and is broadly deployed. Chelsio's Terminator ASIC technology is designed in to more than 100 OEM platforms and has successfully been deployed in more than 100,000 ports, enabling unified wire solutions for LAN, SAN and cluster traffic. With its recently announced fourth generation ASIC technology, Chelsio is taking the unified wire to the next level with full offload for TCP, iSCSI, iWARP and Fibre Channel over Ethernet.
"The networks are converging around 10Gb Ethernet for a number of reasons, and the day is coming when enterprise datacenter network and storage traffic will be sharing a common infrastructure," said Kianoosh Naghshineh, president and CEO of Chelsio Communications, "Chelsio is pleased to be an active participant in Power.org, an organization that offers a unique opportunity to collaborate closely with market leaders and experts in an effort to further advance and deliver solutions that propel network convergence."
