Sparx, Esri Announce Business Partnership

Sparx Systems and Esri have announced the formation of a business partnership, designed to advance the way analysts and architects work to design, build and share geodatabase schemas.

Since Enterprise Architect version 9.3, Sparx Systems has offered an ArcGIS plug-in developed in conjunction with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). This feature, which supports the design of geodatabases for the ArcGIS 10.0 suite, is proving popular within the global geospatial community. By visualizing geodatabase designs, Enterprise Architect can facilitate the traceability of geospatial systems to the broader enterprise model, communicate geospatial design concepts to a wide audience of stakeholders and leverage model driven architecture.

Esri Australia Partner Manager Laura Berman said Sparx Systems joined a growing global community of Esri partners which are developing and delivering game-changing intelligent map solutions. "Together, Esri and its partners collaborate to support end users through successful GIS implementations and repeatable solutions.

"As a result of this latest partnership with Sparx Systems, organizations across a range of industries including aerospace, finance and telecommunications are able to leverage Sparx Systems design tools to easily visualize and analyze their data in a new and more meaningful way," said Ms Berman. "It's incredibly rewarding for us to be partnering with an Australian organization whose product has a global impact and is used by thousands of organizations around the world."

Ken Harkin, Sparx Systems Business Development Manager noted, "The wave of global interest in the 'where of everything' is permeating international business and driving the integration of spatial and business information." He added, "For the first time, the power of Enterprise Architect and its UML profile for ArcGIS allows the design of commercial geospatial databases and enables traceability of the spatial database directly to corporate information models, while leveraging industry standard modeling notation."
