BlueArc Reduces Network Storage Scalability Costs
BlueArc Corporation, provider of the world's highest performance enterprise-class network storage solutions, today announced that it is teaming with Brocade Communications Systems, Inc., the world's leading provider of infrastructure solutions for storage networks, to provide integrated fabric switching within its enterprise-class network storage offerings. BlueArc's Titan SiliconServer will now come standard with Brocade's SilkWorm 3250 8-port switch or SilkWorm 3850 16-port switch, providing customers with the highest levels of data delivery, management and scalability. Enterprise organizations routinely shift their scope of operations in order to respond to market changes and remain a step ahead of competitors. BlueArc's new alliance with Brocade furthers the company's ability to provide enterprise customers with network storage systems that adapt as they do, providing ultimate capacity and flexibility with minimal time or financial cost.
"As we penetrate new Fortune 1000 accounts, we have found the issues of scalability and cost reduction critical to the enterprise," said Gianluca Rattazzi, chairman and CEO of BlueArc. "In these environments, Brocade is far and away the market leader. By aligning with them, we're bringing together two great technologies and furthering our reach into the enterprise storage market."
"We are pleased to work together with BlueArc to make scaleable enterprise storage available to more organizations," said Tom Buiocchi, vice president of worldwide marketing at Brocade. "BlueArc is making great strides in providing high-performance solutions that boost data center productivity."
Titan allows a single file system to grow up to 256 terabytes and delivers throughput of up to 20 Gigabits per second (Gbps). BlueArc's unique SiliconServer Architecture enables customers to scale a single Titan far beyond any other storage product available today, adapting as application or capacity needs change, simplifying management, accelerating productivity and protecting long-term investment.
Brocade's SilkWorm® family of Fibre Channel switches significantly lowers the scalability costs of network storage solutions. The Brocade switches enable non-disruptive SAN growth, through easy to add features and software upgrades that do not interrupt the critical flow of data. Customers can now purchase storage that meets their initial requirements and then adapt the system and switches as their needs grow. By building Brocade switches into its integrated system offering, BlueArc helps customers to more easily expand their storage subsystem through simplified, robust storage management capabilities.
