USC & INVESCO Select F5 Networks' BIG-IP Blade Controller
SEATTLE, WA -- F5 Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:FFIV), a leading provider of Internet Traffic Management (ITM) products, today announced that University of Southern California (USC) and INVESCO in the U.K. have selected F5's BIG-IP(R) Blade Controller to handle intelligent traffic management and high availability of their blade server deployments. BIG-IP Blade Controller runs on a blade and is a critical extension of any blade server platform, allowing traffic to be dynamically sent to the best performing resource available within the chassis.
"As a participant in F5 Networks' early adopter program we were able to install, test and certify BIG-IP Blade Controller software and found the price performance of the blade-based solution to be very compelling," said David Brown, senior systems engineer at USC. "The software runs very well on the HP ProLiant BL e-Class blades currently installed at USC, and we use the software to manage and support USC's web-based registration application."
In order to maximize any blade server's potential, enterprises must be able to unify the independent application and server resources that reside on individual blades and present them as one entity in order to heighten operational efficiencies. This is true no matter who the manufacturer is. Combining blade server technology with BIG-IP software provides a highly scaleable and unified computing platform for the successful delivery of web applications, while ensuring that the blade servers and applications are always available, secure and performing optimally.
