ADVA 100G Metro Wins Major eco Internet Award
ADVA Optical Networking announced today that its 100G Metro has won an acclaimed eco Internet Award. Claiming first place in the 'Carrier Category', the ADVA 100G Metro was recognized as a real innovation in the networking industry, one that is already significantly impacting upon service provider and enterprise networks. Presented to companies that are helping to define the future, the eco Internet Awards celebrate visionary technology and ground-breaking products. Over 400 guests celebrated ADVA Optical Networking's win at this year's eco Gala.
“It's time for visionaries, companies that have the skill to change the world and drive our economies forward,” said Harald A Summa, CEO, eco – Association of the German Internet Industry. “This is exactly what the team at ADVA Optical Networking is doing. With their 100G Metro, they clearly understood what the market needed, what their customers needed and innovated. The results are clear for all to see. Just take a look at their work with DE-CIX or AMS-IX. The 100G Metro enables service providers and enterprises to answer bandwidth demand in the metro environment while also driving down costs. Others may follow, but ADVA Optical Networking was the first.”
The eco Internet Awards' jury noted three clear reasons for the success of the ADVA 100G Metro: higher data throughput, lower costs and integrated encryption on the optical transmission layer. The jury was also impressed with the product's timely arrival on the market. With no competition, the ADVA 100G Metro established itself as the only solution for service providers and enterprises that wanted to deploy direct detection technology across distances of less than 500km. Until the launch of the ADVA 100G Metro, such a deployment was cost prohibitive. Coherent technology remains too expensive for such metro networks.
“The eco Internet Award represents something special to our team. It's a recognition of our technology, our hard work, our people. Ultimately, it's a recognition of our vision for the network," commented Christoph Glingener, CTO, ADVA Optical Networking. "We knew when we launched the 100G Metro that we had something special, something unique. No one in the industry had ever seen anything like this. We created a technology that our customers needed, that the market needed, and the demand for this product continues to grow. But the innovation doesn't end here. Across our entire portfolio, we're continuing to push boundaries and drive our technology forward.”
