NVIDIA Quadro FX 3000G to Power First Linux-based High-end Editing System
NVIDIA Corporation, the worldwide leader in visual processing solutions, today announced that Discreet's new smoke(R) 6 standard definition online editing and finishing system will be available exclusively with NVIDIA Quadro(R) FX 3000G professional graphics solutions. Serving high-end markets and offering new capabilities to mid-range post-production facilities, Discreet's solution incorporates the NVIDIA Quadro FX 3000G in IBM Z Pro 6221 Linux workstations. "Embracing new platforms for smoke is a watershed event and didn't happen without significant collaboration with industry-leading partners like NVIDIA," said Marc Petit, vice president of systems product development at Discreet. "NVIDIA has not only provided superior graphics technology with the Quadro FX 3000G, it has committed the resources necessary to facilitate Discreet's development of a powerful, affordable, and turnkey system. The integrated product is expected to serve a broad range of markets including broadcast and post-production, as well as offer compelling new capabilities on a cost- effective platform."
Discreet is one of the first companies to take full advantage of the NVIDIA Quadro FX 3000G, which was designed to deliver high-end capabilities and performance in any industry-standard desktop workstation. The solution's genlock capability allows users to synchronise to standard video formats and house signals for video post-processing and editing solutions. The NVIDIA Quadro FX 3000G also enables applications to synchronise video refresh and buffer swaps between multiple systems for full-scale design reviews.
