Aprisma Selected by Sun Microsystems for Sun Fire Blade Solution
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- Aprisma Management Technologies, Inc., a Gores Technology Group Company today announced that Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ:SUNW) has selected Aprisma's SPECTRUM IP fault and performance management software as the automated, intelligent and integrated systems management solution for the Blade Environment Data Center Architecture. SPECTRUM will manage key components of Sun's newly announced Sun Fire(TM) Blade Platform. Aprisma joins Sun's iForce community which provides a rich array of products, programs, solutions and partners to deliver targeted, customer-driven vertical and horizontal solutions which help customers improve business processes. The SPECTRUM solution for the Sun Fire(TM) Blade Platform was recently unveiled at Sun's Network Computing '03 in Las Vegas, NV. "We selected Aprisma to be a preferred partner for IP fault and performance management due to SPECTRUM's proven technology, standards-based interoperability and demonstrated market leadership," said Carla Dimond, Group Manager, Market Development Organization, at Sun Microsystems, Inc. "Partnering with Sun and Aprisma, customers can dramatically reduce the cost and complexity of their networked computing environment from the edge of the network through the Data Center."
Using SPECTRUM to manage Data Centers, IT organizations can automate operations of hundreds of Sun Fire Blades in multiple locations from a single console. Effectively delivering a unified view across the hundreds of blades and network devices can be challenging. The combined Aprisma / Sun solution - - designed by system management experts -- provides an architecture that organizations can use to more effectively provision, manage and monitor their Sun Fire Blade Platform along with the rest of their multi-vendor, multi- technology data center.
"Working together, Sun and Aprisma help customers transform technology innovation into tangible customer business value," said Mike Fabiaschi, President and CEO of Aprisma Management Technologies. "Aprisma is committed to interactive joint development and integration activities that drive customer efficiency and help deliver on the Sun N1 vision of creating tomorrow's open, easily managed and unified infrastructure to bring unprecedented efficiency and responsiveness to business systems."
