AMD, IBM Collaborate on Chips
Advanced Micro Devices Inc. and International Business Machines Corp. agreed to jointly develop chip-making technologies aimed at improving microprocessor performance while reducing power consumption. The companies said they will be able to use the technologies to make products in their own chip-fabrication facilities and in conjunction with selected manufacturing partners. They expect the first products, based on the new 65-nanometer technologies, to appear in 2005.
