3Dlabs Demonstrates Graphics Accelerator at SIGGRAPH
3Dlabs Inc., Ltd. today announced that the single card professional graphics accelerator, Wildcat Realizm 800, will be demonstrated for the first time to the public at the SIGGRAPH 2004 trade show at the Los Angeles Convention Center on August 10 - 12th in 3Dlabs' booth #1119. 3Dlabs is a wholly owned subsidiary of Creative Technology Ltd. In addition, the two AGP 8x-based graphics accelerators which have just begun shipping, Wildcat Realizm 100 and 200, will join the PCI Express-based Wildcat Realizm 800 in delivering professional performance to leading Independent Software Vendors (ISVs). The new AGP 8x-based Wildcat Realizm 100 and 200 professional graphics accelerators will be running leading ISV applications such as Alias Maya, discreet 3ds max, NewTek Lightwave, Planet 9 and Side Effects Houdini at SIGGRAPH 2004. SOFTIMAGE(R)|XSI(R) v4.0 and Planet 9 applications will be demonstrated on the dual-VPU, PCI Express-based Wildcat Realizm 800 that achieves up to twice the performance of competitive products.
"We've worked closely with professional software ISVs throughout the development and certification of Wildcat Realizm, and our close collaboration will continue as we unveil the awesome power and performance this product line delivers," said Hock Leow, president of 3Dlabs. "At SIGGRAPH 2004, for the first time ever in a public showing, eight of our software partners will utilize Wildcat Realizm graphics accelerators to show off unprecedented performance with their 3D software applications."
"When production deadlines are tight, SOFTIMAGE|XSI users can breathe easy knowing their Wildcat Realizm 800 can handle the toughest work loads to manipulate and render the most data-intensive scenes," said Alan Waxenberg, third party business development manager at Softimage Co., a subsidiary of Avid Technology, Inc.
"The recent release of LightWave [8] incorporates a whole suite of new character animation tools including a new dynamics system, faster IK and FK tools and a whole new suite of bone editing tools," said Dr. Andrew Cross, vice president of software development at NewTek. "Coupled with the Wildcat Realizm 200, LightWave 3D users will enjoy an even greater boost in productivity."
