InterSAN Announces Support For Hitachi Data Systems Storage Systems
SCOTTS VALLEY, CA -- InterSAN(TM), according to the company, “a pioneer” in the new field of applications-based Storage Area Management (SAM) software today announced it will support present and future storage solutions from Hitachi Data Systems. As a result of its enhanced integration with Hitachi Data Systems, InterSAN's software eases the overall manageability of Hitachi's storage systems by overseeing all components of a networked storage environment, thereby reducing the total cost of ownership. This announcement builds on InterSAN's strategic storage vendor initiatives and comes on the heels of InterSAN's first venture funding round, led by Wit SoundView Ventures. InterSAN's storage management software is expected in Fall 2001.
As allies, InterSAN's software will allow customers to efficiently allocate, manage, and monitor Hitachi Data Systems' storage systems in a distributed storage-networking environment. Working with Hitachi Data Systems, InterSAN has access to Hitachi's management interfaces, which enables InterSAN to support the Freedom Storage line of storage systems. InterSAN's SAM software unlocks the power of Hitachi Freedom Storage(TM), giving customers the flexibility to automatically provision storage based on defined policies and manage the continuous flow of data through the storage network to their applications.
"InterSAN's support for Hitachi Data Systems' Freedom Storage gives our customers additional freedom to manage the delivery of storage to any
computer, anywhere, anytime, with no limits," said Marlene Woodworth, vice president, enterprise products, Hitachi Data Systems. "With the help of development alliances like the one with InterSAN, we're offering better ways to provision storage, differentiate, and manage service levels to customers in the storage network. With this capability we can help customers align data center policies and procedures with business objectives."
"InterSAN's announcement of support for Hitachi Data Systems' products underscores the importance of our relationship and ensures interoperability and vastly simplified storage management for our customers," said Chris Melville, co-founder, president, and CEO of InterSAN. "With InterSAN's software support of Hitachi Data Systems' storage products, data center managers can easily manage networks employing Hitachi products and reduce their storage provisioning costs."
InterSAN is reportedly the first to provide automated storage provisioning and service level management for global storage networking environments. With its patent-pending Virtual Private DataPath(TM) (VPD(TM)) technology, which provides application to data path management, InterSAN automates the provisioning of heterogeneous networked storage with policy-based best practices. InterSAN's applications-based storage area management software provides service level management of multi-protocol storage networks, allowing IT organizations to implement and measure differentiated service levels, including availability, performance, and cost. InterSAN's SAM software is expected to be available Fall 2001.
