FALLS CHURCH, VA -- Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) has won a contract with the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) Acquisition Center, Washington, to deploy the Joint Computer-aided Acquisition and Logistic Support (JCALS) system to Department of Defense (DoD) activities and other federal agencies. The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract has a ceiling of $70 million if all options are exercised during its three-year life. The contract, called the Defense Acquisition and Logistics Information Management System (DALIMS), initially provides for deployment of JCALS to approximately 47 U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force sites. CSC will also upgrade sites where the company has already installed the system, and support deployment efforts associated with DoD Infrastructure Initiative portions of the program. Under the original JCALS contract, CSC developed a field-proven, interoperable information environment automating numerous business processes and integrating applications supporting the life cycle of weapon systems and other products. DALIMS represents the deployment phase of the program. Under DALIMS, CSC will provide commercial off-the-shelf hardware and software, site surveys, system integration, site preparation, installation, testing, data conversion and loading, and support in deploying and maintaining the JCALS system software. "This win enables CSC to deliver the latest hardware, software and communications technology to the field, providing seamless logistics support to users in all services across the DoD enterprise," said Jeff Plotnick, vice president and general manager of CSC's Supply Chain Solutions business unit. Approximately 100 people from the Supply Chain Solutions business unit of CSC's Defense Group will perform the work called for in the contract at CSC facilities in Marlton, N.J. and in West Virginia, as well as at various field sites. Companies teaming with CSC include Compaq Federal LLC, Greenbelt MD; Hewlett-Packard Company, Palo Alto, Calif.; and Integration Technologies Group, Inc. (ITG), Falls Church, Va. which are providing warranty maintenance services to the DALIMS sites.
