Velocity Micro Announces the Release of the Industry’s First Office Quiet HPC Workstation
Velocity Micro announces the ProMagix VSC455 V8, the industry’s first Office Quiet HPC Workstation. With over 8Tflops of compute horsepower in an office quiet package, the ProMagix VSC455 V8 gives engineers, scientists, and researchers the power of a cluster without the distracting noise of most HPC solutions.
“With our HPC solutions, our goal has been to create the most powerful workstations in the industry for the science, engineering, and research communities,” said Chip Lowell, Velocity Micro VP of Sales. “Not only have we done that with the ProMagix VSC V8, but we’ve come up with the quietest, most efficient solution in the industry.”
The VSC455 V8 Tesla GPU Workstation produces its blazing power with dual socket Intel Xeon Nehalem processors combined with up to 8 NVIDIA Quadro GPUs or 8 Tesla Fermi 20-series C2075’s and a custom designed hard drive cage for twice the physical storage of previous iterations. The result is over 8 Tflops of compute horsepower. Additionally, Velocity Micro’s history of creating extreme performance, custom tuned consumer workstations and gaming PCs with whisper quiet, low acoustic air cooling solutions allows the VSC455 V8 to be placed right at an engineer’s desk instead of in a loud, expensive datacenter.
"At AccelerEyes, our Velocity Micro VSC455 V8 machine is an important part of our GPU software development. AccelerEyes engineers literally fight to use it for various LibJacket development projects," said John Melonakos, CEO of AccelerEyes. "We love it for its speed and no-hassle configurability, and we rely on it for its robustness as we have constantly stressed the system over the years, swapping in and out GPUs and running extreme, round-the-clock performance benchmarks."
With these workstation-class graphics in an expandable form factor, the ProMagix VSC455 can be customized to meet the customer’s specific needs across several disciplines, immediately available from Velocity Micro.
