Extreme Networks Participates in Stanford's Open Networking Summit to Demonstrate OpenFlow Technology
Extreme Networks is participating at the Open Networking Summit, October 17-19 at Stanford University's LKS Center to demonstrate OpenFlow technology on its high performance Ethernet switching platforms.
The Open Networking Summit is the first public industry event exclusively dedicated to the emerging paradigm called OpenFlow and Software-Defined Networking (SDN). Following a successful technology demonstration at Interop Las Vegas, OpenFlow has gained global momentum in the networking community and at leading educational institutions, such as Stanford and the University of Massachusetts.
"Achieving interoperability through OpenFlow is critical to the growth required for the Cloud and distributed nature of campus networks, as it enables Software-Defined Networking (SDN) aimed at provisioning, simplifying administration, and enabling new network applications," said Steven Blake, a senior principal engineer at Extreme Networks. "We continue to back OpenFlow as it will simplify management of multivendor networks and give network operators greater flexibility in optimizing their network performance."
Extreme Networks is helping pioneer the adoption of OpenFlow routing that aids in the configuration and management of networks having joined the Open Networking Foundation (ONF) in May and has successfully integrated OpenFlow technology with its BlackDiamond and Summit switches at the University of Massachusetts Lowell over the last two years.
