Dataram Debuts High-Availability Version of XcelaSAN for Mission-Critical Applications
Dataram Corporation has announced the availability of its latest storage optimization appliance – the XcelaSAN Model 100 with High Availability for mission-critical applications. The latest XcelaSAN model offers customers the quickest, most cost-effective way to dramatically boost the performance of high I/O applications in midrange Fibre Channel SANs. XcelaSAN is a unique SAN acceleration appliance that dynamically improves I/O performance up to 30 times with block-level read and write caching.
Setting the bar even higher in SAN acceleration, Dataram’s latest addition to its product line includes several new and enhanced features that help customers drive more performance and efficiency from midrange Fibre Channel SANs while delivering fully redundant data protection for high-availability installations. Data protection is heightened through Flash disks with mirrored RAID, hot-swappable components and UPS protection from power failure. The XcelaSAN Model 100 provides high performance for less and extends the life of the user’s existing infrastructure by eliminating the need for additional storage arrays or the installation of much more expensive high-end storage.
In addition to high availability, the new XcelaSAN Model 100 includes an enhanced Graphical User Interface (GUI) and Command Line Interface (CLI) for ease of configuration and management; an improved SNMP management interface; and advanced performance monitoring and statistics reporting to assist with SAN performance planning.
“I/O intensive applications can be just as prevalent in midrange IT user environments as in ‘enterprise’ shops,” said Mark Peters, Senior Analyst at the Enterprise Strategy Group. “Sheer IT scale does not hold a monopoly on complexity or I/O hunger, and so midrange users can often need the same sorts of function – high availability and no installation downtime for example – as larger ‘enterprise’ operations. Dataram’s latest XcelaSAN can already help remove ‘performance pain’ in FC SANs and now is enhanced with precisely these advanced capabilities, as well as other things – such as no need for software or system modifications, and an easy GUI – that the often resource-constrained mid-sized user will invariably appreciate.”
XcelaSAN dynamically improves application performance with no changes to application or system processes to dramatically improve productivity and reduce processing time. The XcelaSAN helps customers attain higher productivity, achieve more efficient resource utilization and realize a substantial reduction in the total cost of computing.
“The subtle beauty of the Dataram XcelaSAN Model 100 is mid-level enterprise users have the most cost-effective and true plug-and-play fast storage appliance (450,000 IOPS), resulting in ease of integration for existing enterprise architectures. It can be up and running in less than two hours in a Fibre Channel server system,” said Walker Blount, storage systems analyst at Web-Feet Research, a memory and storage research firm. “Users are looking for solutions that are easy to implement and that provide real cost savings – XcelaSAN delivers on both.”
