Bike New York Selects ACTIVE Network to Power America's Largest Recreational Cycling Event
ACTIVE Network announced that Bike New York has selected the Company's ACTIVE Works platform to manage online registrations for the 36th annual TD Five Boro Bike Tour, America's largest recreational cycling event. As Bike New York's exclusive event technology partner, ACTIVE will also power the organization's regional rides, including the Twin Lights Ride and Discover Hudson Valley Ride.
"With 32,000 people registering to ride on 40 miles of traffic-free New York City streets for the TD Five Boro Bike Tour, we want to make sure that signing up is as simple and streamlined as possible," said President and CEO Ken Podziba of Bike New York. "ACTIVE Network is a well-established and respected name in the endurance sports community, and they have done a great job listening to our needs. We're excited to partner with ACTIVE Network to help us enhance our customer experience."
ACTIVE Works is an end-to-end race management software platform that provides a streamlined registration process for participants of high-volume registration events and helps race directors manage their events more efficiently. The platform also includes tools that are well suited to manage the increasingly social nature of mass participatory sport, such as a suite of group management features that allow friends to register for events in teams and social media plug-ins which allow race directors and participants the ability to share and promote their activities.
Held annually the first Sunday in May, the TD Five Boro Bike Tour is America's largest recreational cycling event. The event provides participants the unique and fun experience of biking through all five boroughs - a 40 mile, traffic-free ride for 32,000 cyclists. The Tour is co-produced by Bike New York and the New York City Department of Transportation. The 2013 Tour marks 36 years of this family friendly event since its inception in 1977. Event registration details will be announced at a later date.
"This partnership with Bike New York reflects our deep expertise in and commitment to the endurance market, and we are proud to have the opportunity to power this well-known, marquee event in the cycling community," said Eric McCue, general manager of Sports at ACTIVE Network. "It is also a great opportunity for us to leverage the scalability and robust feature set of our ACTIVE Works technology platform to meet the needs of an organization with very high-volume registration requirements."
