Appro ships its first Appro HyperBlade Cluster Solution to Penn State
Milpitas, CA – Appro, a leading developer of high-density, high-performance servers announces the first delivery of the Appro HyperBlade Cluster Solution based on dual Intel Xeon Processors.
Penn State University receives two Appro 1U clusters; total of 60-nodes and one Appro HyperBlade cluster - 40-nodes, including the Appro Remote Management Software. Another 40-node is planned to complete an 80-node server later this year. Penn State’s research project depends heavily on fluid mechanics computations. These are some of the largest numerical computations attempted anywhere and is a perfect match for Appro’s cluster solutions. Penn State’s project was funded through a Defense University Research Instrumentation Program (DURIP) grant. More information on Penn State’s research performed on the Appro-based High-Performance Computing Clusters can be found at http://www.appro.com/testimonials/pennstateresearch.pdf
Appro offers powerful price-performance alternative solutions using open standard commodity based parts delivering reliable and scalable high-performance computing.
“The benefits of clustering include higher performance, scalability, investment protection and simplified administration. Appro delivers that with their servers and cluster solutions”; said Ken Brentner, Associate Professor of Aerospace Engineering at Pennsylvania State University. We chose Appro Cluster Solutions for performance, density and cost. The Appro clusters we had previously purchased are working so well that we keep on placing orders for more”.
The Appro servers and cluster solutions provide superb quality and outstanding price/ performance; said Daniel Kim CEO and President of Appro. Appro continues to see strong demand for Appro 1U and HyperBlade Cluster Solutions based on the Intel® Xeon™ Processors”
