India's Times Internet Limited Selects Extreme Networks for Data Center, Web Site and Disaster Recovery Needs
Extreme Networks has announced that India's Times Internet Limited, a subsidiary of the leading Indian news publisher, the Times of India Group, has selected its energy efficient and high performance 10 Gigabit network core, data center, and edge solutions. The data center network is designed to enable 40 of its popular web sites to remain consistently available and for its millions of regular visitors to gain immediate access and services.
Times Internet Limited chose Extreme Networks to meet the needs of its visitors, who expect a flawless experience for their daily news and communications. Extreme Networks' innovative stackable fixed switching solutions, with scalability and energy efficiency, provide a network that is highly reliable and cost-effective.
"Extreme Networks flexible and high performance network solutions are a boost to our users and are highly advantageous from a cost perspective, not just today but for our operations going forward," said Gautam Sinha, Chief Technology Officer for the Times Internet Limited. "Building a highly responsive 10 Gigabit Ethernet network that is accompanied by the expertise of Extreme Networks' global and local teams has made our recent network and data center upgrade an excellent experience."
Extreme Networks provided the Times India Limited with a progressive data center design built around its Summit X650 switches, with a strategy that places emphasis on performance and energy efficiency. The switches are deployed to create a redundant, high performance 10 Gigabit Ethernet network for its data center, while Extreme Networks Summit X450e fixed switches power the network edge. The Summit X650 switches enable the Times Internet Limited to realize measurable power savings compared to a network design based on chassis switches, and to reduce OPEX with lowered cooling costs, as part of an intelligent network design that features a stack of Summit X650 fixed 10 Gigabit Ethernet switches.
"The critical services provided by Times Internet Limited for its varying subscribers who access multimedia messaging, mobile chat, and more – are innovative and necessitate a highly responsive network," said Harpreet Chadha, director of product management for Extreme Networks. "Times Internet Limited can continue to grow with a high performance network that offers availability, energy efficiency, and 10 Gigabit performance."
