CyrusOne Refines Flexible Computing Through Partnership With Appro
New Solution Expedites Seismic Data Processing and Interpretation With Availability of 2000 Nodes: CyrusOne today announced a partnership with Appro to provide secure, reliable, high performance computing, or flexible computing services to the oil and gas industry. Leveraging Appro's advanced blade technology with CyrusOne's flexible computing service, oil and gas customers can perform reservoir modeling, seismic processing and run simulations during times of high-demand related to exploration or other business-driven activities.
High performance computing users gain a significant competitive advantage by leasing equipment, which eliminates the total cost of ownership for a new capital asset acquisition or modification to their data center in order to accommodate the increased cooling and power costs associated with blade technology. Customers contracting for flexible computing pay for only the amount of capacity reserved for the duration of the contract period with minimum financial and technical risk. In addition, they can tap into a scalable, secure and highly resilient on-demand operating environment while taking advantage of excellent service and support.
"The partnership between CyrusOne and Appro strengthens our commitment to providing customers with scalable, cost-effective solutions," said Dave Ferdman, President and CEO, CyrusOne. "Together, we have revolutionized the processing and interpretation of seismic data with the most advanced blade servers and a new flexible computing service, making it secure, affordable and highly available, with up to 2000 nodes."
Oil and gas customers experience downtime in seismic processing due to a backlog of this uninterpreted data. This lag in productivity can impact revenue, as un-tapped reserves are waiting to be discovered. Using on-demand computing services, customers can immediately begin interpreting seismic data without investing capital into hardware or data center floor space.
"Appro is dedicated to providing our customers with scalable, high-performance solutions that translate to accelerated results and increased efficiency in the oil and gas industry," said Daniel Kim, CEO, Appro. "By combining CyrusOne's expertise in flexible computing with Appro's strength in servers and storage cluster solutions, Appro is poised to deliver a truly cost-effective, flexible solution to our customers."
