Appro Ranks 132 on List of World's TOP500
Appro HyperBlade Clusters have been recognized as among the world's fastest supercomputers, according to the current TOP500 list. The TOP500 has emerged as the de facto source for determining the world's fastest supercomputers based on a benchmark that measures a system's sustained performance. The Appro HyperBlade Clusters at Los Alamos National Laboratory, project code name "PAL", reached a Linpack benchmark performance of 3.4 TFlop/s "teraflops" or trillions of calculations per second. The Appro HyperBlade Clusters are placed in the one hundred and thirty-second position on the current TOP500 list. The Appro HyperBlade Cluster solution, powered by AMD Dual-Core Opteron processors, is running Linux with 256 nodes with 1028 cores using Voltaire InfiniBand switch. This reflects the growing trend toward standards-based systems configured in supercomputing clusters to address sophisticated computing needs in organizations.
