SC Magazine Gives SonicWALL Firewall Maximum Score in Hardware Group Review
SonicWALL's has received further validation. In a roundup of 12 Gateway Unified Threat Management devices and firewalls, the company's offerings received the maximum score possible by SC Magazine. Called "excellent value for the money for the large enterprise," the SonicWALL Network Security Appliance (NSA) E7500 received maximum marks in all seven categories including Features, Ease of Use, Performance, Documentation, Support, Value for Money and Overall. The SonicWALL appliance scored a higher combined rating (across all categories) against SC Magazine's criteria than competition from Check Point, Fortinet and Panda, receiving full marks across all selection categories.
Beyond attaining top marks, the firewall was commended by SC Magazine Technology Editor Peter Stephenson for being "a high performance, highly configurable, super UTM." Within the review, Stephenson highlighted the solution's flexibility stating that with "many configurable options, the Network Security Appliance can be set up for even the most complex needs of the environment." Beyond flexibility, the SonicWALL firewall was also recognized for its superior simplicity, with Stephenson commenting specifically on the setup wizard, "which pretty much gets the product going with solid protection out of the box."
