Fujitsu Teams with Colfax to Promote 10-Gigabit Ethernet Switch and Solarflare 10GbE Server Adapters Bundle
Fujitsu Frontech North America has announced that Colfax International, a leading provider of innovative and expertly engineered workstations, servers, clusters, storage and personal supercomputing solutions, will be offering the recently announced Fujitsu 10Gb Ethernet switch and Solarflare 10GbE server adapter bundles to its extensive customer base, including financial trading partners. Fujitsu also announced that Avnet Inc. has been selected to supply the bundle into the high-performance networking solutions market.
In March 2011, Fujitsu selected Solarflare’s SFN5122F enterprise and SFN5162F midrange 10GbE server adapters to bundle with the Fujitsu XG series Ethernet switches, including the XG2600 high–performance, ultra-low latency switch, and create a one-stop-shop for high-performance networking solutions. As network bandwidth increases, ultra-fast switching and network latency are increasingly important for maintaining true network performance. In time-sensitive, high-performance computing environments that rely on real-time applications—including financial trading environments, live video streaming and communications—low-latency networking solutions are mission critical.“Today’s financial IT environments demands faster and more reliable connections to support high-bandwidth data transfers, such as high-frequency trading,” said Gautam Shah, president, Colfax. “With the Fujitsu XG switch bundle, we can now leverage Fujitsu’s ultra-low latency 10Gb Ethernet switch in an easy-to-install solution, which enables our customers to accelerate transactions without sacrificing system performance or data reliability.”
"Fujitsu is committed to working with organizations such as Colfax that can expand our market channels and bring our technologies to more companies around the world," said Vic Herring, vice president of sales and marketing, Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc. "We look forward to a ongoing strong business relationships with Avnet and Colfax, supporting the success of our Ethernet switching solutions and further establishing our position as one of the top performing and most cost-effective solutions available in the market."
"Avnet constantly reviews technologies that will provide our customers with a competitive advantage in the marketplace," said Joe Cousins, vice president of marketing, Avnet. "For years, Fujitsu has been an important partner for Avnet in the networking solutions market. The high-performance Fujitsu XG 10GbE switches bundle is a complement to our existing product portfolio, enabling us to provide our VARs and solution providers with a comprehensive switching and networking solution."
The Fujitsu Ethernet switches are ideal for enterprise and video servers, storage applications, high-performance computing and iSCSI/NAS markets. The Fujitsu XG2600 and XG2000 family of switches offer users ultra-low latency 10GbE in a small 1U form factor. The XG2600 is the fourth generation Fujitsu 10GbE switch and boasts sub-400ns latency switching time. At the core of the XG2600 is Fujitsu’s own fourth generation single chip 10GbE ASIC. First developed and released in 2004, the Fujitsu ASIC was the world’s first single 10GbE “switch on a chip.” Fujitsu is one of the few 10GbE switch providers that designs its own ASIC, writes its own firmware and builds its own switch box. No company has more experience developing single chip based 10GbE technology than Fujitsu.
