Storage network accelerator receives ‘Comprehensive’ level rating
NetEx, a worldwide leader in high-performance data transport solutions, today announced that its HyperIP appliance, which provides application acceleration for storage networking applications that use TCP transport services, has successfully passed compatibility testing with qualified IBM storage products, earning a “Comprehensive” rating from the IBM TotalStorage Proven program. HyperIP was tested with an IBM DS4300 (FAStT600) storage device and Cisco 5428 iSCSI router for iSCSI protocol validation. The testing also included an IBM NAS500 Gateway network attached storage device attached to the IBM DS4300 for NFS and CIFS protocol validation. NetEx’s HyperIP was installed in the test network by following the provided HyperStart installation steps. To achieve the “Comprehensive” rating, the HyperIP was additionally tested with the inclusion of packet loss conditions during data transfer, verifying the integrity of the data written to storage, and in a 72-hour stress test.
IBM introduced the IBM TotalStorage Proven program to help clients identify storage solutions and configurations that have been pre-tested for interoperability. IBM TotalStorage Proven program allows users to be better positioned to build high-quality solutions with the latest technology, reduce solution design time when using tested and verified interoperable products, and be better able to facilitate more reliable implementations thereby reducing sales cycles and ultimately increasing client satisfaction.
“We are proud to announce that we successfully passed IBM TotalStorage Proven testing by validating iSCSI and NAS connectivity and functionality with HyperIP,” said Robert MacIntyre, Vice President Business Development and Marketing at NetEx. “This accomplishment demonstrates to customers of IBM storage technologies and NetEx’s HyperIP that our solutions have been pre-tested to work together, helping to overcome performance issues with TCP due to latency, packet loss, jitter, congestion and other network disruptions.”
Unlike existing techniques for high-speed data transport that increase complexity and cost with additional hardware requirements, HyperIP is a simple appliance that easily attaches to an existing network infrastructure and requires no changes to servers/storage controllers, applications and/or network devices.
HyperIP delivers unmatched performance, storage application support and data integrity for WAN-based IP data transfers. No other IP solution offers comparable application acceleration and bandwidth conservation with the highest end-to-end throughput. HyperIP ensures that challenging data transfers are consistently completed on time between distributed servers and/or storage controllers for remote IP storage networking, bulk data transfer between servers, high performance technical computing, financial, medical and digital video images transfers. HyperIP brings the same benefits to extended iSCSI targets, providing better performance over distance, improved link utilizations and a shield against packet loss.
