Supermicro Unveils P4 Storage-Optimized Servers
Supermicro Computer, Inc. introduces its new SuperServer 5013C-MT, its most cost-effective while powerful storage-optimized Pentium 4 server at CeBIT 2004 in Hannover, Germany. The server provides up to 1TB of SATA storage space in a 1U chassis. The new SuperServer 5013C-MT runs at up to 3.40GHz and offers a high value solution by integrating the latest Pentium 4 processor with a large 2MB L3 cache and Hyper-Threading technology into a space-saving 19.85"-deep 1U server chassis. Supporting up to four SATA drives with RAID 0, 1, or 5; this server provides a vast array of cost-effective yet configurable solutions for storage, including NAS and SAN. The unit can also act as a file server, e-mail server, print server, appliance server, or web server, as well as run business-critical applications.
The new SuperServer contains the Intel E7210 chipset with an 800MHz system bus and 3 x 4cm high-performance fans. The system also includes one slim CD- ROM slot, two front-side USB ports, one COM port, one PCI-X expansion slot, a 300-watt power supply, and dual GbE LAN interfaces. It can hold up to four hard drives allow for a potential 1 terabyte of internal storage capacity.
"The SuperServer 5013C-MT is ideal for many business applications and provides excellent computing power and storages capacity," said Charles Liang, President and CEO of Supermicro Computer, Inc. "The server offers a compact solution that's easy on any budget."
In addition, Supermicro is introducing three related systems: the SuperServer 5013C-M8, a SCSI RAID system; the SuperServer 5013C-M, a mini-1U unit; and the SuperWorkstation 5033C-T, a Serial ATA RAID tower server/workstation.
Like the 5013C-MT, the 5013C-M8 offers up to four hard drives in a 1U form factor, providing a dense, high-quality, single-processor system with the fast Ultra320 SCSI. The 5033C-T is actually a versatile mid-tower workstation/server with 8xAGP for advanced graphics applications, and the 5013C-M is a mini-1U that is only 14 inches deep, serving as a niche product for people looking for a shallow-rack solution.
