U.S. Naval Air Systems Command Monitors Operational Readiness With Cognos
Cognos the world leader in enterprise business intelligence (EBI) and corporate performance management solutions, today announced that the United States Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) is using Cognos to analyze fleet readiness and make critical data available to hundreds of senior military personnel via a BI dashboard. With Cognos EBI Series, NAVAIR has built two critical applications that are used to support air craft material readiness, supply and maintenance management, and component reliability and maintenance. The Aviation Readiness Model enables users to monitor and analyze readiness across all aircraft and aviation inventory. The Component Analysis Model provides deeper analysis, with the ability to drill down to analyze component readiness across the entire fleet.
"With Cognos, we now have the ability to access critical operations information in just minutes instead of weeks. The ability to aggregate and analyze data to determine our level of readiness, as well as benchmark ourselves against pre-determined key performance indicators, has been an enabling factor in our overall Aviation Readiness Improvement program," said Doug Jahn technical director of naval aviation, NAVAIR.
"Cognos delivers solutions that let Departments of Defense gauge the readiness of equipment, personnel and systems when and where that information is required," said Terence Atkinson, director of public sector solutions, Cognos. "The ability to unite data sources and to provide deep analysis and a comprehensive view of operations status across all units means that threats can be pinpointed early on and resources can be reallocated quickly and easily to respond to crisis."
