Infortrend releases iSCI host RAID subsystems for VMware
Infortrend today announced that its EonStor (ES) iSCSI host RAID subsystems have successfully completed interoperability testing with VMware Infrastructure 3, ESX 3.5 Edition. ESX 3.5 is a robust, production-proven virtualization layer that abstracts processor, memory, storage and networking resources into multiple virtual machines. This increases hardware utilization and dramatically decreases capital and operating cost by sharing hardware resources across a large number of virtual machines that run side-by-side on the same server, and improves service levels with advanced resource management, high availability and security features. Compatible Infortrend products include the ES S16E-R1130, S12E-R1132 redundant-controller and the S16E-G1130, S12E-G1133 single-controller, SAS-to-iSCSI systems, and the A16E-G2130 single-controller SATA-to-iSCSI arrays. VMware provides TAP program members with tools to develop products that are complementary to VMware virtualization software and help deliver high-value solutions to our joint customers. "Infortrend EonStor iSCSI host RAID subsystems effectively leverage VMware virtualization to solve the challenges of low infrastructure utilization, increasing physical infrastructure and IT management costs, insufficient failover protection, and disaster recovery. As a result, these arrays enable customers to centralize storage configuration and management, build redundant designs that leverage smart scalability features, and most importantly, increase utilization of existing storage systems and therefore reduce total cost of ownership,” said Bernie Mills, senior director, alliances programs at VMware. “We are pleased that Infortrend is helping to deliver added value to customers with innovative technology combined with the significant business benefits of VMware virtualization, including lower capital and operating expenses, business continuity, strengthened security and reduced energy consumption."
"By deploying EonStor IP SANs with VMware Infrastructure 3, IT managers can benefit from a simple, flexible, and cost-effective virtual storage solution that can easily adapt to changing business requirements,” said Thomas Kao, director of product planning and global marketing at Infortrend Technology Inc. “In addition, the EonStor iSCSI host arrays are compatible with VMware Infrastructure 3’s advanced features such as VMware Storage VMotion technology, VMware High Availability, and VMware Distributed Resource Scheduler. This allows users to eliminate downtime and automate workload distribution."
