HP exclusive systems provider for Oracle Exadata
HP has announced that it is the exclusive systems and integration technology provider for the Oracle Exadata Storage Server. This new storage solution is designed to deliver dramatically improved performance for large data warehouses, resulting in speedier decision making for business users.
Running today on HP ProLiant DL180 servers and HP storage technology, Oracle Exadata Storage Server delivers simplified management and storage for Oracle data warehouses, enabling customers to increase the value of their database information and respond more rapidly to changing market conditions.
The Oracle Exadata Storage Server dramatically improves query performance over non-Exadata solutions by offloading query processing from database servers and reducing storage traffic. As a result, business manager productivity is improved through faster access to business information. The storage server operates in an Oracle Database 11g environment running on pre-installed Oracle Enterprise Linux. It comes ready to offload query processing from database servers.
Available with up to 12 terabytes of raw storage, the Oracle Exadata Storage Server is an easy-to-deploy and scalable storage module. It also can be purchased as part of Oracle’s new HP Oracle Database Machine, which is a full 42U rack system that includes eight HP ProLiant DL360 servers running Oracle Database 11g and Oracle Real Application Clusters on Oracle Enterprise Linux and 14 Oracle Exadata Storage Servers.
Both the Oracle Exadata Storage Server and HP Oracle Database Machine are available for purchase through Oracle.
The HP ProLiant server was introduced 15 years ago this month and has been the industry’s leading x86 server brand ever since, most recently with 33.9 percent revenue and unit share worldwide. Moreover, the latest customer survey from Technology Business Research ranked HP ProLiant ahead of the competition in most areas, including product quality and customer support.
“HP deploys more business intelligence solutions on its servers than any other platform and is proud to be the exclusive hardware technology partner for Oracle’s new Exadata offering,” said Ann Livermore, executive vice president, Technology Solutions Group, HP. “With the largest installed base of Oracle customers in the industry, HP is well positioned to help customers deliver more business value out of every dollar spent on Oracle technology.”
These new solutions complement an already broad set of HP offerings designed to accelerate Oracle solutions and integrate with Oracle products, including HP Reference Configurations for Oracle, HP BladeSystem for Oracle Optimized Warehouse and HP StorageWorks solutions for Compliance, Business Continuity and Storage Resource Management. This solution also adds to HP’s industry-leading portfolio of solutions for enterprise data warehousing and operational business intelligence.
“HP has a worldwide presence, world-class support and high-volume server leadership,” said Edward Screven, chief corporate architect, Oracle. “Extending our long-standing partnership with HP to include the HP Oracle Database Machine and Exadata Storage Server was a natural choice for Oracle and our customers.”
