High-performance, large-scale biometric implementations will see new levels of scaling, performance and affordability using Massively’s breakthrough HOWARD software technology. -- Massively Parallel Technologies, Inc. (Massively), a provider of on-demand high-performance computing (HPC), announces a new partnership with Fulcrum Strategic Partners, Inc. (FSP), a leading US-based biometric consulting company. Ken Nosker, FSP founder and President, recognized the tremendous opportunity to bring to bear the speed, power and processor efficiency of Massively’s patented HOWARD software technology to address short-comings of conventional biometric solutions. “We believe that the combination of our top-ranked biometric software tools and Massively's flexible and ultra-scalable parallel processing software will dramatically impact the large-scale biometric marketplace,” said Ken Nosker, President of FSP. “The ability to deliver high-performance biometric solutions without the need or high cost of the leading Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems (AFIS) vendors’ proprietary solutions will give any defense contractor or systems integrator a huge competitive advantage when responding to very large scale biometric solution Request for Proposals.” Supporting a variety of biometric matching and identification techniques including fingerprint identification and face identification, Massively’s Powered by HOWARD biometric solutions make it possible to rapidly authenticate or identify individuals at an extremely low cost per identification without sacrificing accuracy. As the total number of desired database records to search grows at an exponential rate, processing and compute scaling efficiencies are paramount to the success of a biometric solution. Nosker went on to comment, “The new identity management solutions jointly offered by our two companies give our customers the capability to easily build, deploy and manage huge databases that can be searched within seconds. All of this incredible speed, power and processor efficiency can be deployed on off-the-shelf hardware, unlike the leading AFIS vendors’ proprietary solutions. Further adding to the value proposition is Massively’s ability to offer a fully managed, outsourced biometric processing solution via their on-demand Biometric Virtual Power Centers. This will be ideal for government agencies or corporations who do not want to shoulder the cost and responsibility of building and managing a 24×7 high performance data processing center. We are excited about the new partnership between our companies.” Biometric identification and verification is used to address a wide range of security risks including terrorism, access control, and identify theft, i.e. the Department of Homeland Security’s United States Visitor and Immigrant Status Technology (US-VISIT). An individual’s fingerprints are scanned at points-of-entry in the United States and searched against one of the largest biometric databases in the world to verify the individual is not a threat to U.S. security. Ideally, the US-VISIT program would be able to give immigration agents a real time match/no match answer for every person entering U.S. soil. However the system currently in place cannot handle that volume of computing intensity. Massively’s HOWARD technology is designed for these types of problems. “Ken Nosker is a recognized and well-respected individual within the biometric community,” stated Massively’s CEO, Scott Smith. “We view this partnership as a tremendous opportunity to take biometric solutions from being an expensive and relatively niche market to one that will improve everything from national security to retail and to consumer experiences. Ken’s vision and his company’s proven ability to recommend and deliver biometric solutions make this an ideal partnership to market best-of-breed, Massively powered biometrics offerings.” Biometric solutions powered by Massively can be made available through its Internet accessible, on-demand supercomputing Biometric Virtual Power Centers or through on-premise installations. Massively and FSP are working together to deliver a wide-range of biometric solutions that uniquely deliver a complete price, performance and accuracy value proposition. FSP will market and promote leading biometric solutions that integrate Massively’s capabilities. FSP’s customers include the U.S. Army Language and Technology Office, QuikTrip convenience stores and travel centers, Count Me In, LLC and the Dominican Republic’s National voter registration system.
