Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA), an industry leader in advanced network ASSPs, today announced that Quadrics, an industry leader in high-performance interconnect technology, will use the Fujitsu 10 Gigabit Ethernet single-chip switch, the MB87Q3140, in its high-performance interconnect switching products. Quadrics, which supplies advanced products for very high-performance supercomputers and massively parallel systems, will develop interconnects using the Fujitsu MB87Q3140, the company's industry-leading 12-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch. The single-chip device incorporates an Ethernet MAC, high-speed interface macros, low-latency switching technology and a CX-4/XAUI SERDES interface, enabling development of high-performance, low-latency, low-power, and compact switches running at wire-speed bandwidth of 240 Gbps. "Quadrics has rapidly emerged as a technological innovator, with a strong worldwide customer base and a clear, exciting mission to bring high-performance interconnects for supercomputing technology to the media, communications and finance markets, among many others," said Asif Hazarika, senior product marketing manager for FMA. "The company's QsNet interconnect delivers extremely high bandwidth and ultra-low latency, and has become a crucial component for scalable systems." "Fujitsu established itself as the world leader in single-chip 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch technology quickly and decisively, and the company continues to pace this powerful market," said Cristoforo Romanelli, CEO of Quadrics. "The 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch from Fujitsu is ideal for the high-performance networking products that Quadrics is designing and delivering to markets worldwide." Quadrics' products are used in systems run by many of the world's leading vendors and integrators as well as major supercomputing centers such as Lawrence Livermore and Los Alamos National Laboratories, Pittsburgh Supercomputer Center and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. In addition, the Quadrics software products are fully integrated with Platform Inc. LSF, Etnus Inc's TotalView Debugger and Pallas' VAMPIR and VAMPIRTRACE performance analysis tools.
