Surrey based connectivity services provider Next Connex has completed its 780km Southern Ring Dark Fibre network. This exciting development will allow Next Connex to offer even greater efficiency for services, which include not only networking and connectivity options but also server virtualisation, data centres and cloud computing services.
The company's fibre network is the only fully diverse route into the Next Generation Data (NGD Europe) mega data centre, supporting 10Gb/s, 40Gb/s and 100Gb/s high capacity services. The ability to scale-up data capacity quickly makes it ideal for hosted services and cloud computing services providers, for whom scalability is a large selling point.
The network will provide ultra-high performance, low latency and resilience, linking London to South Wales via the Midlands and the M4 corridor. Spanning the south of England up to Birmingham and Leicester, the network links directly to Internet hubs such as London Telehouse North and Telecity Harbour Exchange. This makes it perfect for telecoms providers and ISPs, as well as companies offering hosting and colocation services.
As data centre facilities outside of the M25 become increasingly popular due to their available space, enhanced security and lower costs, Next Connex believes its fibre network will become a major route for carriers and end-users who want to retain the benefits of low network latency without compromising on flexibility and growth potential.
Paul Schneider, sales director of Next Connex said: "With our ultra-high performance dark fibre network linking the City of London and Europe's largest data centre, we can help any telecoms provider or ISP to offer the most advanced, resilient connectivity services to their customers.
"If a company has IT infrastructure in a data centre, we can deliver all the network bandwidth they need, as well as the flexibility to quickly boost capacity to cope with periods of high demand for their business-critical applications. Our position as a data centre connectivity specialist means we can offer a unique win-win proposition, both for companies that partner with us and for their customers."
Next Connex is the only UK national operator to use a fibre monitoring system and is a pioneer of 40/100Gb networking in the UK. The company's commitment to improvements in networking and pioneering technology make it a natural partner for a variety of services for which connectivity is crucial, such as data centres, cloud computing services and virtual networks.
The technology company prides itself on the ability to offer security without compromising on speed or connectivity, and their network provides this by giving a carrier-neutral connection over diverse routes with guaranteed sub-2 millisecond transit. In addition to partnering with ISPs and telecoms providers, the network will allow them to offer improved and virtual network options such as server virtualisation.
The company has plans to ensure that the whole of the UK can take advantage of this technology, so is currently expanding its network to extend its reach from the Midlands to Manchester and Leeds / Bradford and a third phase is planned for 2012 to cover the North East and North West of England, and Scotland.
